North star

I’ve walked for miles on a journey too long..

Searching for an oasis, through every right and wrong..

The skies cried a flood when I finally took a nap..

Now all I’m left with is a broken compass, a torn map..

Whichever road I take, it gets closer but I remain far..

I’m a lost traveller and she’s the North Star!

Long time ago, a man started to run..

Didn’t know the destination or why did he begin..

The sweat on his face glistening under the sun..

Captivating like gold, thus joined another man..

Hungry and tired they found a melon..

To share or keep became the survival question..

One killed another and thought he had won..

That victory, that power, was it all for fun?

Since then men joined a journey that never ends..

Like hamster on a wheel, captivated; we run..

The color of your soul, is precisely what my darkness seeks..

The compelling strokes of your brush, creating wild ocean peaks..

These cravings that evoke me, more than I’d like to confess..

The touch of your fingertips, for my body is your canvas..

When I was a kid I saw a man in my street every day, they called him the “monkey master”.

He’ll tell his little monkey friend and he’ll dance and walk and laugh and clap. And all the kids will laugh with him..

As my childhood disappeared, so did the monkey master.. I kept wondering where did he go, what happened to him?

Years later I saw him, in an interview by a local reporter. Showing him gradually dying of poverty, as people don’t watch the monkey shows anymore. Some find it dangerous, some think it’s cruel, some say it’s unacceptable to have animals dancing around the streets. Crowds and gatherings need special permissions due to possibility of terrorist activities, etc.

They asked him, if he can do something else to make money..

He said, ” I learnt some woodwork and became a carpenter but couldn’t make as much of a living, because that’s not where my heart lies.

My monkey was my little baby, my best friend. We ate together, danced together, cried together. Every night I fell asleep thinking of all the new things we’ll learn to do together..

People don’t like to watch shows like that anymore, but that’s what I am good at. That’s all I know.. That’s what I did all my life. I don’t know how to be otherwise, be someone else.”

I realized I feel the same.. people don’t love these days, some find the term eternal love as unacceptable and preposterous. Some think it’s dangerous and even overrated, but that’s all I know. I can’t do otherwise whether someone wants it or not.. All I have is “love” to give and share.. I am like the monkey master, will I die suffering too? Just like him…

Hold my hand and run away,

Far from the city lights..

To spend a night in the forest,

Hear the birds sing a lullaby..

To watch the wild game of survival,

As the little deer learns to fight..

See the rain kiss the earth,

An anticipated reunion with the sky..

Hold my hand and run away,

To the mountain shining bright..

Let’s fall, in love then stray away,

Till we carelessly learn to fly..

Forever together,

But never becoming one..

You and I,

Like the glowing horizon…

You might be wondering by now what does the title have to do with The Awesome Blogger Award? Ever since I started this journey for a soul-tribe search, I’ve learnt to connect with fellow bloggers, mesmerizing poets, supportive readers and inspiring writers.. Some of them gracefully nominated me for several awards, for which I am humbled but I never actually followed an acknowledgement until now.

Which leads to the second question, so why now? But I haven’t answered the first one either, yet! 😀 Being a sceptical person, I took a long time weighing in the good and bad about awards and eventually realized it is, in fact, an awesome opportunity to connect more openly with all the people who’ve been with me through this journey. And by doing this acknowledgement I’m going to answer a few “Getting to know me” questions as well as nominate 5 other Awesome Bloggers that I’ve discovered so far (honestly I came across at least a 100 other awesome bloggers but got to stick to the rules). So I’m doing this award in hopes of getting to know my readers more closely and nominating others hoping to create 1+1=11, not just 2. I hope it’s a chain that’s started and it keeps growing into more love, happiness and compassion for everyone.

So first and foremost I’d really like to thank God for this epiphany and giving me the ability to write and connect with all sorts of amazing people. Secondly, I’d like to thank Gail from gaillovesgod for nominating me for this award. She herself is an exceptional writer and every single post on her blog is a ray of hope and sunshine, so I’ll definitely recommend to check it out.

About the Award creator:

Created by Maggie at Dreaming of Guatemala, stating:

‘This is an award for the absolutely wonderful writers all across the blogging world. They have beautiful blogs, are kind and lovely, and always find a way to add happiness and laughter to the lives of their readers. That is what truly defines an awesome blogger.”

My Questions:

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

I actually love to travel and would like to see every mapped and unmapped country, but if I have to name a few, it would be Italy.. Particularly fascinating Venice, Florence, Rome and Tuscany. Or Slovenia for its countless number of historical and cultural sites.

What is your biggest accomplishment?

A couple of years back I, along with a couple of colleagues started an international medical students organization, which has since then provided many free of cost seminars, medical training and workshops to upcoming doctors hoping to serve the community better.

What is the most amazing blog you’ve ever come across?

Well, this is a tough one and took hours of consideration, still, I have to choose one.. It’s by Veena. She’s an exquisite writer and her blog reeks of optimism, mythology, love and a beautiful soul.

Chocolate or Lollies?

Chocolates! Without a second thought..

What’s the best advice anyone ever gave you?

“Every difficulty you’re going through or have been through is shaping you into the person you’re required to be in the future.. leading you to what you asked for..”

What is your dream job?

I have always wanted to work for the MSF or commonly known as Doctors Without Borders, to be able to serve the displaced communities and refugees.. I’m already on the path and hope to acquire this dream job one day…

What’s your favourite flavour of ice cream?

Blueberry and chocolate fudge.

He loved triangles, so he decided to gift me one..

Ever since I’m enclosed in it, always on a run..

On one end there’s love, and birds and a pair of rings..

On other end there’s hate, and a pair of broken wings..

I stand on the third end, while it tears my soul apart..

You stand on each end, staring at my broken heart..

On a moonlit night, listening to stories untold…

Or a warm summer morning, like melted gold..

The rusty old shoes, the same necklace of pearls..

The same old songs and her hair in perfect curls..

In the deafening peace of a snowy winter night..

The clock ticked louder, reminding of it’s might..

But everything at the sea was forever changing..

Change is life, thus the old man loved kayaking..

They place, one wound after another..

Sword after sword..

I bleed, from my chest and my eyes..

But I don’t scream..

Numb, I stare, far into the desert..

Still searching..

For something to live for, to fight back..
